I grew up playing multiples sports, but in high school I found my love for shot put, javelin and discus. I started weight training in high school to keep my strength and explosiveness for the throwing events.
I started competing in powerlifting in 2010 after I had become a personal trainer and wanted to invest myself further into my passion of lifting weights. I started competing in the WABDL Federation and quickly set State, National and World bench press records for my age and weight class in 2011 and 2012.
In 2012 I switched over to competing in USPA powerlifting meets and got certified as a state referee. I am currently a Level 2 National referee in the PLU and referee 1-2 meets a year as a way to give back to the sport I love. My last meet was in May of 2023 where I totaled 1290 lbs. and at one time was ranked #11 in the world in my age and weight class!
I built Northwest Barbell while working a full-time job, spending weekends and evenings putting equipment together and making the gym a special place. It has always been a dream of mine to own a gym that met all my training needs and was my home away from home.
I now have the pleasure of sharing my love of the sport and competing alongside the members of my own gym! Watch out for Team Northwest Barbell's latest adventures on our social media pages.
